Additional information

Wenceslaus II ruled Luxembourg as a client duke under the shadow of his cousin, Emperor Wenceslaus IV of Bohemia, whose own reign was marked by chronic instability and eventual deposition. This gros was struck during a period when Luxembourg's monetary output was shaped as much by dynastic obligation as local economic need — the duchy functioned largely as a pawn in Bohemian and imperial politics throughout the 1380s.

The Weiller and Boudeau references place this type among the better-documented Luxembourg medieval silver, though die variety documentation remains incomplete compared to contemporary Flemish or French issues.
