Wenceslaus II ruled Luxembourg as a satellite concern of his broader Bohemian and Holy Roman imperial ambitions — he was simultaneously King of Bohemia and, briefly, King of the Romans before his deposition in 1400. The fractional gros issues of this period reflect the practical demand for small silver in a region whose trade economy ran on Flemish and French monetary conventions. The sixth-gros denomination exists at the lowest viable threshold for silver coinage of the period.
