Reverse description Central device depicts the châtel tournois — a stylised fortified tower — surmounted by a cross, all contained within a beaded inner circle in the tradition of the French royal Gros Tournois type. The intermediate border bears the mint legend in Gothic lettering. The outer border is ornamented with twelve fleurs-de-lis enclosed within ovals, the uppermost surmounted by a label, referencing the Angevin dynastic claims of the rulers of Provence.
