Reverse description A bold cross fleury with fleurs-de-lis terminating each arm occupies the central field, the four arms extending nearly to the inner beaded border and dividing the field into four quarters. Each quarter of the cross is elaborately decorated in the Gothic tradition, with the fleur-de-lis finials clearly defined in relief. A beaded inner circle frames the central cross device. The surrounding legend reads SIT NOMEN DOMINI BENEDICTVM, a devotional inscription meaning 'Blessed be the name of the Lord', separated by star stops, rendered in uncial Latin characters consistent with the style of the Valois royal mint.
