The shield bears three fleurs-de-lis arranged two above one, reflecting the reduced arms of France moderne adopted under Charles V. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, beyond which runs the circumferential Latin legend. The irregular flan and variable flan thickness are typical of hand-struck medieval silver. |
