The monogram is boldly executed in the Gothic architectural style characteristic of late 14th-century Low Countries coinage. A beaded or plain border separates the inner device from the outer circular legend. The circumferential legend, read clockwise, identifies the issuer as Duke Albert, Count of Hainaut, with word separators rendered as pellets or crosses. |

A second, outer circular legend carries the devotional inscription 'BENEDICTVS SIT NOMEN DOMINI NOSTRI', separated from the interior legend by a raised circular fillet. The overall design follows the standard Hainaut gros type, consistent with late medieval Low Countries monetary tradition. |
