Reverse description A bold cross pattée extends to the inner beaded circle, dividing the field into four quarters and separating the interior legend into four segments. A small annulet or pellet marks the centre of the cross. The interior legend names the issuing count, while the exterior legend, running between the inner and outer beaded borders, carries the devotional Benedictus formula in abbreviated Gothic lettering. The overall composition follows the standard gros tournois-derived layout prevalent in the Low Countries during the first half of the 14th century.
