| توضیحات روی سکه | Central field displays the rampant lion of Hainaut, crowned and with bifurcated tail, set within a quatrefoil frame composed of four lobes defined by a beaded inner circle. The lion is rendered in high relief in the bold Gothic style characteristic of early 14th-century Flemish coinage. A beaded border separates the central device from the surrounding circumscription. The outer legend reads + GVILLELM VS * COMES * hAnOnIE (William, Count of Hainaut), interrupted by a cross pattée at the commencement. The irregular flan and strong strike are typical of hammered silver gros of this period. |

An intermediate legend band between the inner and outer beaded circles reads + MOnETA VALEnCEn` (Coinage of Valenciennes), referencing the mint city. The outer legend, separated by a further beaded border, carries the Christogram formula + XPC ⋮ VInCIT ⋮ XPC REGnAT ⋮ XPC ⋮ ImPERAT (Christ conquers, Christ rules, Christ commands), a standard invocation on Tournois-type gros of the Low Countries. The overall design closely follows the typology of the French royal gros tournois, adapted for the comital coinage of Hainaut. |
