The monogram is set within a quadrilobe frame, with the letters H, Y, O, and N placed in the four exterior angles, serving as an abbreviated legend for Hainaut. The entire composition is encircled by a border of twelve five-petaled rosettes, each contained within an individual beaded circle, arranged evenly around the periphery. The overall design reflects the Tournois gros tradition adapted for the County of Hainaut. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | Central device consists of a short cross pattée with broad, flared arms, set within a beaded inner circle. This is surrounded by a double concentric legend separated by a beaded border, with the inner legend reading the count's name and title and the outer legend invoking the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ. The lettering is rendered in a bold Gothic majuscule characteristic of late 13th-century Low Countries coinage. The overall layout closely follows the model of the French gros tournois, adapting its double-legend format to the comital authority of Hainaut. |
