Obverse description Two heraldic shields displayed side by side in the central field, surmounted by a crowned rose (the 'rozebeker' motif) flanked by small floral ornaments. The dexter shield bears the quartered arms of Brabant and associated territories, while the sinister shield displays the quartered arms of Burgundy and Flanders. The composition is framed by a beaded inner circle, with the peripheral legend reading clockwise in Gothic lettering separated by stops. Decorative rosettes serve as word dividers within the legend. The overall design reflects the joint authority of Duchess Joanna of Brabant and her consort Philip the Bold, Duke of Burgundy.
