| Obverse description | Central field dominated by a quartered shield displaying the combined arms of Brabant and Limburg — four rampant lions arranged within a quadrilobe frame, each lobe enclosing one lion passant or rampant in high relief, rendered in the Gothic heraldic style characteristic of mid-14th-century Brabantine coinage. Small annulets occupy the spandrels between the lobes. The entire device is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, beyond which the circular legend runs in Gothic uncial characters. The overall composition is bold and finely executed for a hammered silver issue. |
