The king wears an elaborate crown surmounted by a cross, with striations visible on the neck indicating a draped or armored collar. Two small annulets or pellets appear in the field to the left of the bust. The portrait occupies the majority of the flan, with minimal legend visible around the periphery. |

Annulets appear in the second and third angles, while three bezants (pellets arranged in a triangular grouping) occupy the first and fourth angles. A circular Latin legend reading TORTOSA CI (City of Tortosa) runs around the periphery between two beaded circles, following standard Catalan ecclesiastical and civic mint convention. |
