| Reverse description | A bold plain cross pattee divides the reverse field into four quadrants, each containing a distinctive arrangement of pellets or annulets representing the arms of Barcelona — the characteristic orbs or roundels associated with the city's heraldic tradition. Each quadrant is framed by the arms of the cross, and the whole design is contained within an inner beaded circle. The circumferential legend CIUITAS BARCKNONA, reading 'City of Barcelona', runs between the beaded inner circle and the irregular flan edge. The reverse follows the standard late medieval Catalan groat type struck at Barcelona throughout the reign of Martin I. |
