Reverse description A bold short cross pattee occupies the central field, its arms extending to an inner circular border but stopping short of the outer legend ring. The four quadrants formed by the cross contain the segmented interior legend in uncial Latin lettering, reading the name and title of the issuing count. A finely beaded inner circle separates the interior legend from the outer field. The outer legend ring, also in uncial Latin, runs along the coin's periphery between the inner border and the irregular hammered edge. The composition is consistent with the standard reverse design of Flemish sterling coinage of the mid-fourteenth century.
