The cross is plain and strongly struck, characteristic of hammered gros coinage of the period. A second circular legend in the outer field carries the devotional inscription invoking the name of Jesus Christ, while a lower legend identifies the coinage of Liege. The design follows the standard gros tournois-derived type widely adopted by ecclesiastical mints of the Low Countries in the 14th century. |
