| 背面描述 | A long cross pattée extends to the inner circle, dividing the field into four quadrants and separating the inner legend into four segments. A small annulet or pellet marks the center of the cross. The inner legend reads the titles of Duke John III, while an outer circular legend bearing a religious invocation runs along the periphery within a beaded border. The engraving is executed in the uncial Gothic lettering characteristic of Brabantine gros of the period. |

John III's groat issues of 1337–1339 fall squarely within his aggressive territorial expansion phase, during which Brabant absorbed Limburg following the War of the Succession of Limburg and positioned itself as a commercial power rivaling Flanders. The duchy's mint output surged in this period partly to fund military obligations and partly to meet demand from the thriving cloth trade running through Leuven and Brussels.
Witte 359 and 360 represent two distinct die varieties, differentiated by minor legend variations rather than denomination or weight differences.
