Reverse description The reverse displays a prominent cross pattee centered within a beaded inner circle, its arms extending nearly to the inner border, as visible in the image. Two concentric Latin legends surround the central cross: an interior legend identifying the mint of Valenciennes and an exterior legend bearing a religious invocation. The legends are separated by a beaded border, and the entire design is enclosed within an irregular beaded outer rim characteristic of hammered coinage of the period.
