Groat - Antoine of Burgundy

Antoine of Burgundy acquired Brabant in 1406 through his mother Margaret of Male's dynastic maneuvering, making him the first of the Valois-Burgundy line to hold the duchy. His reign was short — he died at Agincourt in 1415, fighting on the French side. These groats belong to a coinage window of roughly two years, bracketed by ongoing monetary negotiations with the neighboring lordships over billon fineness standards that plagued Low Countries minting throughout the early fifteenth century.
