Obverse description Central field depicts the heraldic lion of Brabant seated and facing left, crowned and wearing a helmet, rendered in high relief in the characteristic Gothic style of the early 15th century. A horizontal bar or platform element appears beneath the lion, dividing the field. The surrounding circular legend in uncial Gothic lettering reads ANThOnIVS DEI GRA DVX BRABAnTIE LOVAn, attributing the issue to Anthony, by the grace of God Duke of Brabant and Leuven. The legend is contained within a beaded or rope border encircling the coin's perimeter.

Reverse description A long cross pattée extends to the inner border, dividing the reverse into four quarters and intersecting a double circular legend. At the center, a quartered shield bearing the arms of Burgundy is superimposed over the cross. The legends, arranged in two concentric bands in Gothic uncial script, read MOnETA DVC. BRA BAnTIE ET:LIMB, identifying this as the coinage of the Duchy of Brabant and Limburg. The overall composition follows the standard Burgundian Low Countries gros format of the period.
