Obverse description Central field features a crowned Gothic initial 'F' (for Fernando) set within a shield or rectangular frame, flanked on either side by small cross pattée symbols. The crown surmounting the letter is rendered in a stylized Gothic manner typical of 14th-century Iberian hammered coinage. A beaded inner circle borders the central device, with the surrounding circular legend in uncial Latin script reading a variation of SI DOMINVS MICHI AIVTOR. The overall style is characteristic of the Dionysian and Fernandine Portuguese billon coinage tradition, with irregular flan and bold relief strike.
