The surrounding legend, separated by ermine spots (mouchetures d'hermine), reads LVDOVICVS FRACOR REX BRITONVM DVX, identifying Louis XII as King of the French and Duke of Brittany. The overall style is characteristic of late Gothic hammered coinage produced for the Duchy of Brittany. |
