Obverse description The obverse depicts a detailed relief scene of the interior of the Gouffre de Padirac cave, showing towering stalactites and rocky cavern walls above an underground river. In the lower field, a small boat carrying figures is navigated through the subterranean waterway. The legend GOUFFRE DE PADIRAC arcs along the upper periphery, with the commemorative dates 1889 - 2009 along the lower periphery, separated by small circular ornaments.

Reverse description The reverse features a central octagonal frame enclosing the facade of the Monnaie de Paris building in relief, with the inscription MONNAIE DE PARIS below it. Six stars are arranged above and six below the building within the octagon. The word FRANCE appears on the upper and lower sides of the octagon, with the year 2009 on the left and right sides. Around the outer periphery, the name of France is inscribed in eight languages in Latin, Cyrillic, Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese, and other scripts, separated by tilde ornaments.
