正面描述 Full-length frontal effigy of Emperor Frederick III (Frederick V as Duke of Austria) standing, crowned and robed in imperial regalia, holding a scepter in his right hand and an orb in his left. A trefoil (cloverleaf) ornament is depicted between his feet at the base of the design. The figure is rendered in the Gothic hammered style characteristic of late 15th-century Austrian coinage. The surrounding legend, in uncial Latin lettering, reads FRIDER*3* – RO*IMP*, abbreviated for Fridericus Romanorum Imperator.

附加信息

Frederick V — better known as Holy Roman Emperor Frederick III — faced persistent fiscal pressure from the Hungarian campaigns of Matthias Corvinus, who seized Vienna itself in 1485 and held it for five years. These gulden were struck in the years immediately preceding that occupation, making them products of an Austrian mint operating under genuine military threat. Frederick's gold coinage from this window is notably inconsistent in flan quality, reflecting disrupted supply chains rather than any lapse in mint standards.
