A charioteer or driver figure is visible above the horses, whose bodies are depicted with exaggerated, almost abstract anatomical elements. Various subsidiary motifs, including pellets and curvilinear ornaments, fill the field around and beneath the horses, reflecting the progressive Celtic stylization of the original Greek Philip II stater prototype. They circulate among attributions to the Lemovices or neighboring Petrocorii, though no tribal inscription resolves the question — Celtic coinage of this region simply predates the habit of self-identification on coin. The type sits within a broader tradition of Gaulish gold derived ultimately from Macedonian Philip II staters, progressively abstracted over successive die generations until the original figural source is barely recoverable.
