Obverse description Plain field bearing a recessed rectangular tablet containing the Latin inscription TINC in bold incuse letters, representing an abbreviated form of the issuing ruler's name, Tincomarus. The tablet is surmounted by an angled roofline or pediment-like element visible in the upper field, lending the design a quasi-architectural quality characteristic of late Celtic coinage influenced by Roman epigraphic conventions. The remainder of the field is unadorned. The flan is irregularly shaped, as is typical of hand-struck Celtic gold staters of this period.
