正面描述 Plain, unadorned field bearing a rectangular incuse tablet in relief at centre. Within the tablet, the dynastic inscription COM.F (Commios Filius, meaning 'Son of Commios') is rendered in Latin characters. The surrounding field is otherwise devoid of decorative elements, reflecting the transitional Romanising style adopted by the Atrebatic coinage of Tincomarus. The flan is irregularly shaped, typical of hand-struck Celtic gold coinage of the late first century BC.

背面描述 A Celtic warrior, armed with a spear held in the right hand, is depicted mounted on a rearing horse advancing to the right. The abbreviated royal name TIN or TINC appears as a legend below the horse. Ancillary decorative elements — including a pellet or ring beneath the horse's tail and a star motif behind the figure — may appear depending on the die variety. A pellet border encircles the design. The composition reflects the strong Gallo-Belgic and nascent Roman artistic influence characteristic of Atrebatic coinage under Tincomarus.

附加信息

Tincomarus was a son of Commius — the Atrebatan king who had served Caesar as an envoy and then spectacularly turned against Rome, escaping across the Channel to Britain after the Gallic Wars. The COM.F inscription on this coinage, shorthand for Commii Filius, was a deliberate dynastic claim, tethering Tincomarus to his father's name at a moment when Roman cultural influence was actively reshaping southern British coinage. Augustus received Tincomarus at Rome, and he is named in the Res Gestae among British kings who sought the emperor's friendship — one of the very few Iron Age British rulers to appear in Roman imperial records by name.

He was eventually driven out by his brother Eppillus, likely sometime around 7–5 BC, and fled to Rome. The staters bearing this type predate that exile.
