| Obverse description | Stylised, highly abstracted head derived from the Apollo prototype of the Macedonian stater tradition, oriented to the right. The wreath is rendered with leaves pointing inward, accompanied by a cloak motif and crescent ornaments characteristic of Corieltauvian die engraving. A prominent spike projects from the design, bearing a single crescent; the terminal of the spike is occasionally bent to form a distinctive two-pronged hook element. The overall composition exhibits the bold, curvilinear reduction typical of Late Iron Age British Celtic coinage. |
