A stylised Celtic horse prancing to the right occupies the central field, rendered in characteristic Icenian abstract style with a boldly curved neck, arched back, and attenuated limbs. Above and around the horse are elaborate curvilinear motifs including large pellet-tipped spirals and a beaded rope or chain design, elements descended from the charioteer and sun-wheel of the earlier Gallo-Belgic prototype. Below the horse, a series of pellets, annulets, and crescent forms fill the lower field. The entire composition is executed in the dynamic, flowing aesthetic typical of Late Iron Age Celtic coinage in East Anglia. No legend or inscription is present. |

The Iceni occupied what is now Norfolk and Suffolk, and their coinage developed largely independent of Gaulish influence — a regional tradition that makes typing their staters genuinely difficult. The "Multi Pellets" designation within ABC 1405 refers to a specific reverse die characteristic used to differentiate sub-types within the broader Snettisham series, itself named after the Norfolk hoard site where a concentration of related material was recovered in the mid-twentieth century.
Iceni gold was struck in the years before the Claudian invasion of 43 AD rendered tribal coinage politically obsolete almost overnight.
