Obverse description Highly stylised and abstracted Celtic rendering of a laureate head derived ultimately from the Macedonian gold stater prototype, presented in a non-representational manner characteristic of Late Iron Age British coinage. The field is dominated by a bold diagonal band representing the disintegrated wreath or hair, composed of elongated parallel striations radiating toward the left. To the right, a series of curved crescentic and scrolled forms suggest the vestigial facial features of the prototype, rendered in the fluid, curvilinear La Tène artistic tradition. A cluster of raised rectangular pellet-like elements occupies the central field, further fragmenting any figurative reference. No inscription or legend is present, consistent with the uninscribed coinage of the Corieltauvi. The flan is slightly irregular, as is typical of hammered Iron Age staters from this series.
