Above the horse, a large ringed pellet and a smaller pellet ornament the upper field, while a wheel or sunwheel motif with a central pellet and radiating spokes occupies the lower field beneath the horse. Additional abstract leaf- or flame-shaped ornaments are scattered across the field, consistent with Icenian artistic conventions. The design is entirely anepigraphic, executed in the energetic hammered relief typical of Late Iron Age coinage of eastern Britain. |
