Gold Stater Eyelash Crescents

表面の説明	Central design composed of two back-to-back hollow crescents with radiating linear elements resembling eyelashes within each crescent, from which wreath-like projections extend outward. A pellet-in-ring motif is placed within the concave area to each side of the central crescent pair. The design is executed in the abstract, curvilinear Celtic artistic tradition, set against a plain field with no inscription.

追加情報	The Iceni occupied what is now Norfolk and parts of Suffolk, operating a mint economy largely independent of Roman commercial networks during this period. Their staters circulated as a prestige medium among the tribal elite — not everyday exchange — which partly explains why gold Iceni coins turn up so frequently in hoard contexts rather than as site finds. ABC 1456 falls within the late uninscribed series, predating the named rulers whose issues followed after Roman administrative pressure compelled tribal leaders to identify themselves on coinage. The absence of any inscription here is itself a chronological marker.
