Two pellet-in-annulet devices flank the central motif, serving as the vestigial remnants of the original portrait's facial features. The overall composition is bold and linear, typical of late British Iron Age coin art in the Trinovantian tradition. |

A large annulet with central pellet appears in the upper field above the horse's back, and a curved exergual line with pellets and a crescent motif occupies the lower field below the horse. The Latin legend, reading DVRNOVALLAVNOS or DRVNOVILANO depending on the die variety, is disposed around the periphery of the field, representing one of the earliest uses of a ruler's name in Roman lettering on British Celtic coinage. Scattered pellets and linear devices fill the field in typical Trinovantian decorative fashion. |
