Obverse description Obverse displays a highly stylised and abstracted interpretation of a laureate head, rendered in the characteristic insular Celtic manner derived from earlier Macedonian gold stater prototypes. The design is decomposed into schematic elements: two prominent curved wreath branches occupy the upper field, their internal leaf ends either pointing toward or away from flanking crescent-shaped motifs depending on the die variety. Two pellet-in-annulet devices flank the central motif, serving as the vestigial remnants of the original portrait's facial features. The overall composition is bold and linear, typical of late British Iron Age coin art in the Trinovantian tradition.
