| Descrizione del dritto | Deeply concave, blank obverse field exhibiting the characteristic bowl-like flan curvature typical of Late Iron Age British gold staters derived from the Gallo-Belgic tradition. The surface is largely plain and devoid of intentional design, retaining only faint die-contact marks and natural flan irregularities across the highly polished, convex interior. A pronounced granulated or beaded rim encircles the periphery, formed by the irregular edges of the cast and hammered flan. This uninscribed obverse reflects the progressive stylistic abstraction of the Philippus-derived prototype, in which the laureate head has been entirely reduced to a plain convex surface. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | The reverse displays a highly stylised and abstracted Celtic interpretation of a horse passant, rendered in bold relief with curvilinear Iron Age decorative elements. Above the horse, a large crescentic or lunate motif flanked by comma-like pellets and sweeping curved lines represents the vestigial charioteer and associated decorative filler elements. Below the horse's body, a prominent concentric-ring wheel motif with a central boss and radiating spokes occupies the central field, a recurrent symbol on Atrebatic coinage. A crescent or pellet-in-annulet device appears to the right of the horse, and the lower field is bordered by a row of raised pellets or beaded exergual decoration. The overall composition is uninscribed and executed in the vigorous, abstract La Tène artistic style characteristic of the Climping type. |

The Qb stater takes its name from the "Qb" symbol appearing on the coin — a classificatory device used by researchers, not a readable inscription, reflecting the pre-literate coinage tradition of southern British tribes before Roman contact introduced Latin legends. The Climping findspot, a coastal West Sussex location, places this piece squarely within Atrebatic territory during the decades immediately preceding Caesar's expeditions of 55 and 54 BC, when cross-Channel trade with Belgic Gaul was actively shaping both the economy and the coinage of the region.
