| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field occupied by a large, stylised vine leaf rendered in a radiate, multi-lobed form with a prominent central stem and spreading fronds. Latin inscription divided to the left and right of the vine leaf, reading VI-RI or VE-RI depending on the die variant. The design is characteristic of Catuvellaunian-influenced British Iron Age coinage and is executed in a crude, degenerate style consistent with a contemporary counterfeit of an official Verica stater. The flan is irregular and the gold plating, now largely worn, is visible in areas where the bronze core is exposed. |
