Above the horse, a bucranium (ox-skull), a solar or anemone motif, and the retrograde or abbreviated inscription TASCIAV(AN) are disposed across the upper field. A hook-like object is positioned below the horse in the lower field. The design elements collectively reflect the iconographic vocabulary associated with Tasciovanos, ruler of the Catuvellauni, and parallel the typology of the genuine gold stater series attributed to this ruler. |
