| Obverse description | Obverse design severely degraded and largely illegible owing to the base-metal core and partial loss of the gold wash. The flan is irregular and crudely struck, consistent with clandestine contemporary fabrication. Faint traces of what appears to be an abstracted wreath or pellet-and-arc motif — derivative of the Snettisham Wreath type — are visible in raking light toward the right side of the field. The execution is markedly inferior to the official prototype, with ill-defined relief and a poorly prepared planchet surface. |
