Reverse description Central device consisting of an ornate cross-shaped monogram formed around a squared cartouche bearing the letter S for Sedan, with elaborate foliate and fleur-de-lis terminals extending from each arm of the cross, rendered in a refined Renaissance decorative style. Small pellets are positioned at the cardinal points surrounding the central device. The circumferential Latin legend NON EST CONS ADVERS DNM 1591 S encircles the design, an abbreviated form of the Biblical motto Non est consilium adversus Dominum (There is no counsel against the Lord), with the date 1591 and the mint initial S for Sedan incorporated within the inscription. A toothed border frames the entire reverse field.
