| Reverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, a bold cross pattée with slightly splayed arms occupies the central field, its form characteristic of early medieval Anglo-Saxon ecclesiastical and regal coinage. The cross is rendered in high relief against a plain field. The surrounding legend, distributed evenly around the periphery between the beaded inner border and the milled outer rim, records the moneyer's name and title in widely spaced Latin capitals. The composition follows the standard formula of Carolingian-influenced Saxon pennies, attributing responsibility for the issue to the named moneyer Bosa. |
