| Reverse description | The reverse presents an ornate cross quernée with a rose at its center, the four quarters alternately charged with a lion passant guardant and a fleur-de-lis. The entire composition is enclosed within an arched quatrefoil set upon a quadrate frame, with roses placed in the angles between the frame and the quatrefoil arches. The external voids of the frame are filled with pelleted trilobes, creating a richly detailed decorative field consistent with the high Gothic aesthetic of Plantagenet coinage. The circumferential legend in Latin invokes divine protection. |
