Obverse description Draped bust of Duke Leopold I facing right, wearing a flowing allonge wig with elaborate curls, the truncation adorned with drapery. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the Baroque manner typical of early 18th-century Lorraine coinage. The date 1717 appears in the lower field beneath the portrait. The circular Latin legend runs along the toothed border, identifying the ruler and his titles.
