Reverse description Elaborate floriated cross pattée at center, with fleurs-de-lis terminating each arm and lions passant in the angles between the arms, all within a polylobe inner frame decorated with trefoils at the cusps. A small rosette or annulet marks the center intersection of the cross. The entire central device is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, beyond which runs the surrounding Latin legend in Gothic script. The design closely follows the decorative conventions of Valois French royal coinage adapted for the Gascon series, presenting a symmetrical and densely ornamented field.
