| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field displays the crowned arms of France — a shield semé of fleurs-de-lis arranged three-and-three — surmounted by an elaborate royal crown with fleurs-de-lis finials. The shield is set within a raised inner circle, itself enclosed by a beaded border. The surrounding legend in Gothic uncial characters reads LVDOVICVS D G FRAnCOR REX PROVIn CO L T, identifying Louis XII as King of France and Count of Provence. The overall design is characteristic of late Gothic hammered coinage, with bold relief and irregular flan edges. |
