Obverse description Central field features a fleurdelisé cross composed of four fleurs-de-lis arranged in cruciform pattern, surmounted by a small sun motif at the top, all rendered in high relief typical of late 16th-century hammered coinage. The surrounding circular legend in Latin reads CAROLVS X D G FRANC REX with the date 1590, separated by ornamental stops. The mint mark X for Amiens appears within the legend. The flan is characteristically irregular in shape, consistent with hand-hammered production technique of the period.
