Obverse lettering FRANCISCVS D G FRANCORV REX L
(Translation: Francis, by the grace of God, king of the Franks.)
Reverse description Central design consists of a floriated cross formed by four fleurs-de-lis radiating from a central annulet, creating a bold and ornate cruciform composition characteristic of the écu au soleil type. A small letter 'L' (mint mark for Bayonne) appears in the field. The surrounding circular Latin legend XPS VINCIT XPS REGNAT XPS IMP is separated by small cross pattée dividers. The reverse exhibits the same hammered technique as the obverse, with the legend fully legible along the inner border of a beaded or wire rim.
