| Beschrijving keerzijde | A plain cross pattée divides the reverse field into four quarters, each containing an alternating motif: a crowned letter L and a dolphin, arranged in diagonally opposed pairs, emblematic of Louis XII's sovereignty over the Dauphiné. The cross terminates near the beaded inner circle, and the composition is executed in the flat, bold relief typical of hammered French royal gold. A Latin legend encircles the design between two beaded borders, invoking the triumphant and regnant Christ. The irregular flan and variable strike depth are consistent with early sixteenth-century hammer-struck coinage. |
