Obverse description Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, depicted enthroned facing, robed and crowned, holding an upright sword in his right hand and a shield bearing the Burgundian arms in his left. The throne is ornately rendered with Gothic architectural detail, flanked by foliate elements. The entire composition is set within a cusped Gothic arch or canopy, enclosed by a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend in uncial characters identifies the ruler by his titles.
