| Beschrijving voorzijde | Philip the Good depicted enthroned in full regalia within a Gothic architectural canopy, his figure shown facing forward in three-quarter view. The duke is crowned and holds an upright sword in his right hand as a symbol of sovereign authority, while his left hand rests upon a shield charged with the arms of Burgundy. The throne is rendered in fine Gothic tracery, lending the composition a distinctly late medieval character. The peripheral legend, rendered in uncial script, identifies Philip by his principal titles as Duke of Burgundy, Count of Flanders, and heir to Holland and Zeeland. |
