Beschrijving voorzijde Enthroned emperor depicted in full frontal view, seated upon an ornate Gothic throne, holding an upright sword in his right hand while his left hand rests upon a shield bearing the imperial double-headed eagle. The figure is rendered in the High Gothic style characteristic of mid-14th century Low Countries coinage. A beaded inner circle separates the central throne scene from the surrounding circumferential legend in uncial characters. The entire composition exemplifies the imposing regal imagery associated with Imperial coinage of the period.

Beschrijving keerzijde A floriated cross with trifoliate arm-ends is set within a prominent quadrilobe formed by four cusped lobes, each lobe separated by re-entrant angles containing a stylised clover or floret ornament. The spandrels between the arms of the cross and the interior of the quadrilobe are filled with additional florets, lending the design a richly ornamental Gothic character. A beaded border frames the quadrilobe, beyond which the circumferential legend in uncial script runs between two concentric beaded circles. The overall design is consistent with the reverse type standard to the Chaise d'Or series struck in the Low Countries during the reign of Louis IV.
