| Obverse description | Central field features the shield of Savoy — a plain cross on a divided field — set within a beaded inner circle and surrounded by a rope or chain-like annulet. The escutcheon is surmounted by a decorative crest or knot device at the top. Floral or foliate ornaments appear at the lateral sides of the shield, lending the composition an elegant heraldic character typical of late medieval Savoyard gold coinage. The peripheral legend in Gothic uncial letters reads around the entire circumference within a beaded border. |
